I am almost 19 years old and the youngest of 5 children. I have three beautiful sisters and an entertaining brother and 4 adorable nieces and nephews. I was born and raised in Orange County, California, where I spent my free time at the beach, dance studios and Borders book store. My mother was a preschool teacher and my father was a police officer. Sadly, my father passed away in 2005. I've had the same group of close friends since I was a small child. We even have a really creative and original name for us four girls, called "The Sisterhood". My friends and I spend our time going to Borders, going to the beach, eating Chipotle and watching the addictive HBO series, "Big Love". When I'm not doing those activities, I am usually taking dance or yoga class. I love vegetables, tennis shoes, chap stick and laughter. I consider myself as silly, compassionate and friendly. I don't understand how television works and why there is so much hatred in this world. I love playing outside and doing crafts. I enjoy nature and books and music that is good for the soul. Sarcastic humor is my best weapon. My family are the most important people in my life.
There are a lot of social problems in this world. They are often chain reactions and I feel that the only way these cycles can be broken is through education. Education is powerful and beautiful. It changes lives and creates character and dreams. I love working with children. Children understand the world best. They don't know about divorce, terrorism or death. They are contagiously happy souls. They speak their minds, they aren't afraid to ask questions or be silly. I want to inspire children and most importantly teach children that it is alright to be themselves. I want to foster happy, healthy and independent children. I want to help create learning habits that carry on for years and generations. I want to someday become an administrator because I love working with families and assisting in progression for education.
I am more than excited for this course. I feel like this course actually pertains to what I want to do. I know this course will be a lot of work, but I'm enthused to work with a group of individuals who share similar ideas and beliefs about education. I hope to learn something new about everyone in my group every class. I've read almost half of the required books for this course and cannot wait to read them again! Books are so magical! I'm a book nerd. I can't help it. But hey, some say that " reading is sexy" :)
